This is the main menu for the 1 player mode. Note the different sized rectangles in the center screen in a non-intuitive layout. Also note the absence of well defined borders of each picture, resulting in a confusing slab of pictures. Thirdly, note the small font of the words in each rectangle. Whoever designed this menu definitely prioritized style over usability, which in itself is not a completely bad idea, but is quite annoying to get used to.

This is the menu for special events. Note how each section is the same size and the same format, definitely better than the last one. One little thing to note is the black lettering with deep red background in the first column, which makes it harder to read compared to the rest of the columns.

This is the menu for selecting a car in arcade mode, which probably has the worst design in the entire game. There is a scrollable list at the bottom of the screen for selecting cars. For some reason, someone thought it was a good idea to put all the cars into one long list, sorted by horsepower. So if someone wanted to choose a car with high horsepower, they would have to scroll all the way to the end. This design also makes it extremely difficult to find a specific car. Say you wanted to select a mini cooper. You would have to remember the horsepower of it and scroll all the way to the general range in the list and go through the cars one by one to find it. Another huge problem is that the cars don’t load fast enough when you’re scrolling through the list. Therefore, you would have to wait for the cars to load as you are scrolling or else they would appear blank in the list.

Not to say that this is a horrible game, but whoever designed the menus should really rethink their priorities.

On another note, the opening movie was quite awesome, although I personally would have liked them to redraw more cars instead of spending time on the movie. WHERE IS MY ROCKET BOOSTER BOX IN HD!!!!????

Who the hell is Til Schweiger?

Found out netflix launched in Canada. Pitiful selection, though. They pretty much only have movies I have never heard of..like..for example. It may just be me..but I had no idea there was a movie based on the video game Far Cry.Or, another movie called “The Babysitters”, about a 17year old who started an innocent enough babysitting service that turned to an escort service. I would be inclined to watch it if it were barely legal babysitters and rated R (and a porno), but for a drama rated R (cause it has “drug use by teenagers”), no thanks.

The TV shows they have are also incredibly limited. They listed Heroes like 4 times, once for each season i guess. There are no premium channel shows, no nothing. I would very gladly sign up for this if it means I get HD streaming movies and TV shows, for the shows I watch. Not this crap. Anyway, milfslayer, your turn.

traveled for the first time in years, I was pretty stoked. We only stayed for the day, which sucks since there was so much to do there. All the big name booths had 2 hour+ line ups including the Guild Wars 2 booth (was it worth it Gabe?). Some booths were apparently unsupervised *cough* Brink *cough* so we ended up waiting a solid hour in the line up that only moved because people rage quit waiting. This is probably the case when the same four guys from an hour ago are still playing the “timed” demo. On the other hand, we did get to play Killzone 3 multiplayer. The lines there were more forgiving, taking 16 players at a time. But being a Halo fanboy, the seemingly awkward positioning of the PS3 analog sticks made it bloody hard to control. There were also some cosplayers out and about but most of them were terrible. The only good ones were the models paid to stand at their respective booth and look pretty. I did however take a few videos (in HD!) of some demos and craziness in general, some of which you can enjoy here:

Bottom Line: We shoulda fucking stayed for all 3 days.

My rendition of the Fortell, a 3X10 layered keyboard

I’ve been wanting to try my hand at transcribing music for awhile, but never got into the mood to do so. At least now I know to appreciate those transcribers out there, because seriously, it’s an extremely time consuming and difficult process (especially for someone without perfect pitch). Anyways, here’s my first attempt at transciption, Secret from Symphonic Rain.

I suppose it’s a little too easy for most people, but whatever, I’ll just excuse myself by saying that it keeps in style with the game, ‘difficult enough to master with a few practices’. On to the next song Nevermind, I give up on transcription lol. Gonna go play someone else’s transcriptions instead.

Note: Scribbler is awsome for random sketching. Makes even the crappiest of drawings look good.
